This pathway was shown to be important in being able to stop body movements once initiated. Webpathways can affect the level offocus of attention and sustained behavior, manifest as distractibility and impulsivity that leads to switching to another perception, cognition, or behavior, despite cortical intention to do otherwise. The stopping of behavior involves the hyperdirect pathway. This pathway bypasses the striatum.
